Italian outfit Napoli are unwilling to loan out their striker Victor Osimhen in possible exchange for Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

With 24 hours left in the summer transfer window, Napoli have rejected Manchester United’s proposal to sign Osimhen on loan.

Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be interested in playing Champions League football, but the Red Devils failed to qualify for the competition, having failed to finish in the top four last season.

It was gathered that Napoli want €130m for the striker, and Manchester United have already spent close to €250m this summer.

Another option being explored is for Osimhen to join Manchester United on a loan deal with an obligatory purchase clause, but that seems to be a non-starter.

Ronaldo loses influence in Man Utd dressing room

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has appeared to lose the influence he holds in dressing rooms as the striker continues to seek a move away from Manchester United.

Ronaldo is understood to be keen on securing a move away before the end of the transfer period.

But even as his agent Jorge Mended continues to look for possible solutions, it has now emerged that his teammates were happy when news first broke out that he wanted to leave the club.

Spalletti reacts

Sports Brief earlier reported that the head coach at Italian club Napoli, Luciano Spalletti, has disclosed that Victor Osimhen will go nowhere this summer amid links with Manchester United.

Several reports claim the Nigerian international could be heading to Old Trafford as Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent is said to be working on a possible swap deal.

Manager Spalletti, however, reiterated that Super Eagles striker Osimhen will remain at the Italian club this summer.
