  • United have seemingly put their rough start behind them by winning two successive games in the Premier League
  • Fernandes has shined in both games after being given captaincy duties in both games

Manchester United's stand-in captain Bruno Fernandes has asked his Manchester United teammates to be consistent in the Premier League.

Fernandes is slowly rediscovering his form after starring in Manchester United wins against Liverpool and Southampton this week.

He was at hand to score the lone goal against Southampton in Saturday's early kickoff as United picked its second successive win of the season under Erik ten Hag.

Fernandes is expected to be United's skipper in many games this season with club captain Harry Maguire facing a lengthy time on the bench given the exemplary partnership that Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have struck.

Speaking after the victory in St.Mary's, Fernandes asked his teammates to keep producing the same set of impressive results.

One or two wins don’t make the league. We have to carry on this spirit for the rest of the season. This is what this club demands. We set the standard so we have to carry on now and if we can, improve it as quoted by Daily Mail.

United had begun the season in bad fashion after recording back-to-back losses at the hands of Brighton and Brentford. Ten Hag rang up some changes in their win against Liverpool with Cristiano Ronaldo and Maguire making way.

How Manchester United beat Southampton

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Manchester United ended their torrid away run with a narrow 1-0 win over Southampton in the early kick off on Saturday, August 27.

Bruno Fernandes got the all-important goal early in the second half as David De Gea came up with crucial saves to secure three points for his side.

Southampton will however be proud of their performance, as they constantly threatened United straight down to the final whistle.
