  • Erik Ten Hag has insisted he is not moved by Manchester United's slow start to the Premier League
  • The Dutch manager has been given a rude awakening to life at Old Trafford losing his opening two games as United boss
  • His situation could become dire when his charges come face to face with fierce rivals, Liverpool, on Monday night

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is unperturbed by the club's poor start to the season, stressing his intentions of restoring the Red Devils to their glory days.

Ten Hag, who is convinced he will make United great again, has been given a baptism of fire to the club's new reality.

Defeats in his first two Premier League outings - 2-1 home loss to Brighton and a humbling defeat at the hands of Brentford has left United at the foot of the league standings.

Asked how tough United's poor start had been for him personally, Ten Hag said via Mirror: “For me personally, that's never the issue.
"I'm not here for myself, I'm here for the club and to restore the club. I knew before this was a challenge and I wanted this challenge.
"I knew before it was going to be hard, but I wanted that because in my career, everywhere I started, the start was difficult, but I got it done, and I'm convinced I'll get it done here as well.
“Therefore, I chose this project, I knew it was a process and I will stay consistent with the philosophy and to the plan we had.
"I have confidence in the co-operation I have in the players and also the team around - the coaches and the directors.”

Surprised Erik Ten Hag handed rude awakening after Brentford loss

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Erik ten Hag expressed his surprise at seeing Manchester United capitulate to a 4-0 defeat at Brentford that leaves the Red Devils bottom of the Premier League for the first time in 30 years.

But after just two games in charge, the Dutchman is getting a crash course in United's new reality.

The 20-time English champions have now lost seven consecutive away league games for the first time since 1936.
