Ex-Senegal striker Demba Ba nearly joined the coaching staff of Manchester United last season.

The former Newcastle United and Chelsea star was contacted by ex-Manchester United interim boss Ralf Ragnick to assist him during his ill-fated spell.

However, according to the Senegalese the move was thwarted by visa complications.

"When Ralf got appointed he called me, he said to me he wanted me on his staff," Ba explained in an interview with the i.

"He said: "You know the Premier League, you know players, you have a background that is close to theirs, you speak English and German and you can be the link between the squad and my staff.
"For him he saw it as a perfect match and I'd be able to help him, he thought they'd respect me for who I was and what I'd done in the Premier League.
"It was a six-month assignment to go in and help but it didn't happen because the visa didn't get accepted.
"For me it's not a regret. Getting experience is always good – it would have been good to get that experience.
"I'm still working as hard as ever in life, probably even more now."

Demba Ba and Ragnick worked together at Hoffenheim before moving to England to join West Ham, where he later played for Newcastle United and Chelsea.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Senegal striker, Demba Ba has celebrated Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan on his 36th birthday, describing him as the best 'Goal celebrator.'

Gyan fascinated fans with his dancing skills anytime he scored a goal, especially during his days at Sunderland, where he played in the Tyne Wear derby against Demba Ba's Newcastle United.

In a post on Twitter, Demba Ba reacted to the goals and celebrations of Asamoah Gyan to wish him a happy 36th birthday.
