  • In an extensive first interview in Man United colors, Eriksen admitted it was a bit weird that the transfer actually happened

New Manchester United signing Christian Eriksen made some interesting sentiments in his very first interview as a Red Devil.

On Tuesday, July 26, Manchester United’s Carrington training complex was graced by some big names as Cristiano Ronaldo returned to England for showdown talks, while Sir Alex Ferguson also made way to the grounds, possibly to be part of the discussions.

Eriksen was also part of the players present at Carrington on Tuesday and the Denmark international was photographed in United colors for the very first time.

Speaking to the club website for the first time since the move, Eriksen admitted it felt a bit “weird” that the United transfer took place.

“It’s weird, I never thought it would actually happen, so to be here, like you say being a Man Utd player, it’s very special.” He said.

The former Tottenham man was also the first to admit he did not think he would be back in the Premier League after departing North London for Italy where he joined Inter Milan.

"I was thinking my time to go to Manchester United was before! Obviously, then I was at Spurs, and then went to Italy, but now to sit here is definitely something that I didn’t expect, but I'm also very happy that I’m here. It feels good, it feels good to be here."

He becomes Erik Ten Hag’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Tyrell Malacia.

Admittedly, the attacking midfielder also let it be known that Ten Hag was a massive influence in his decision to come to Old Trafford.

"First of all, the football. I mean, I’m a guy who wants to play football and I think with the idea of the manager coming in and the ideas he had and also with my conversations with him, I mean I could see myself playing football in Manchester.”

Eriksen’s possible debut for Man United

United will end their preseason over the weekend, where they will take on Atletico Madrid in Oslo, on Saturday, and Rayo Vallecano the following day at Old Trafford.

Because of the back-to-back games, it is highly likely Ten Hag will split his side, meaning Eriksen could make his debut as early as the July 30.
