Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly introduced tough footballing rules his players must follow as he kicks off his Old Trafford reign.

Ten Hag was appointed to the United hot-seat back in April and officially took charge by the end of the 2021/22 season.

According to the Daily Mail, the former Ajax boss has vowed to bring back the attacking football that the Red Devils were known for during the successful era of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

The publication claims the Dutchman has already made his stance known on what he expects from his players as preparations for next season continue.

Erik ten Hag introduces new Man United guidelines

The Sun now reports that Ten Hag has introduced strict instructions and regulations his players need to adhere to.

The move is understood to be aimed at transforming the philosophy of the club.

Key among the regulations introduced include a ban on sideways and backwards passing.

Below are the new regulations introduced by Ten Hag at Old Trafford:

  1. Intolerance of sideways and backwards passing.
  2. A ban on dressing-room cliques from last season.
  3. Training performances to decide who features in match day squads.
  4. Young players to earn minutes under the belt if they impress in training.
  5. Players must improve their fitness.

Harry Maguire holds training with kids during honeymoon

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Man United skipper Harry Maguire made the most of his honeymoon in Italy as he spared some time to share footballing tips with local kids.

The England international is understood to have asked his hotel to prepare the pitch for a training session with the five youngsters.

Maguire was yet to rejoin the rest of the United squad for the pre-season as he enjoyed an extended summer holiday following his recent marriage with Fern Hawkins.

However, he has since linked up with his Red Devils teammates for preparations for the pre-season.
