Manchester United fans are beaming with hope after Cristiano Ronaldo was pictured swapping shirts with Spanish defender, Pau Torres after Spain were held to a 1-1 draw by Portugal.

Pau Torres, who currently plays for Villarreal, has been linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United as the Red Devils try to rebuild their squad following the exits of many key players.

According to a report via Stretty News, the Red Devils could make an offer for the 25-year-old Spanish defender who has a release clause worth €55-60 million.

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag is expected to bolster the playing squad at Old Trafford following several departures from the club including Pogba, Mata, and Lingard who are the latest to leave the club.

Torres is expected to leave Villarreal during the summer transfer window as Chelsea are also believed to be monitoring the 25-year-old Spanish defender.

Pau Torres agents in England for Man Utd meeting

Meanwhile, Pau Torres could be edging closer to sealing a deal to the English Premier League from Villarreal this summer.

According to Tribal Football, the Spanish defender representatives have been in Manchester for talks with United officials ahead of a proposed move to Old Trafford.

Torres has earlier stated he is presently happy at Villarreal and won't force a move away this summer but it is expected the defender will move with the right offer.

Morata scores wonder goal as Portugal hold Spain
