Manchester United have signed Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo from the academy, making it the 17-year-old first professional contract in his career.

This comes after the 17-year-old, who was born in Stockport, wowed everyone at Old Trafford with his outstanding performance in the FA Youth Cup final, which United Academy won.

Mainoo has made 31 appearances for Manchester United U-18 so far this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists.

The English-born Ghanaian teenager was instrumental to achieve the FA Youth Cup for Manchester United scoring twice on their run to the final.

The young midfielder is set to become a great player in the future if he keeps demonstrating his talent and qualities like he did in the FA Youth Cup final.

That was the main reason the Red Devils offered Kobbie Mainoo his first professional contract, now it is the time for Erik Ten Hag to notice him and give the starlet a chance in the first team.

Mainoo confirmed the deal on his official Instagram page, with the caption:

"Happy to sign my first professional contract with @manchesterunited great way to end a successful season."

Hopefully, the young midfielder could become vital in his position for the Dutchman's project which is barely about to start.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ghanaian teen sensation Kobbie Mainoo was overly impressive as Manchester United's Under-18s won the FA Youth Cup by beating Nottingham Forest 3-1 in the final.

The 17-year-old midfielder, who played the entire duration of the game, starred in front of a raucous 67,492-strong crowd on Wednesday at Old Trafford.

Mainoo dictated the game for Travis Binnion's side, and his delicate passing in the middle third often opened up Nottingham Forest.
