The Red Devils endured a frustrating campaign this season, with the side set to miss out on a Champions League appearance.

Ten Hag has now reportedly placed Kante on his summer wishlist, with the former Ajax boss said to have urged United chiefs to complete the transfer.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Man United boss contends that the France international would be the perfect addition to his squad.

The Chelsea midfielder has enjoyed a significant rise to prominence since his arrival in the Premier League with Leicester City.

The World Cup-winning star has won the Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup, Super Cup and FA Cup during his six-year spell at Stamford Bridge.

He will have just a year left on his deal with Chelsea this summer, and the club's new owners would be open to selling him should they want to raise some funds.
