Donny Van de Beek has made his feelings known about the appointment of Erik Ten Hag as the new Manchester United manager.

Ten Hag will take over at Old Trafford from next season, and is expected to reintegrate Van de Beek back into the United squad.

Van de Beek has had an underwhelming spell as a Manchester United player so far, and he was recently shipped to Everton on loan.

On Thursday, April 21, Ajax shared an interesting post quoting Ten Hag’s sentiments.

Ajax quoted Ten Hag as saying Ten Hag as saying: "I want to finish my time here on a positive note, by winning the league."

Keen fans were quick to notice that the post was liked by Van de Beek in a subtle approval of the new manager.

Ten Hag knows about Van de Beek all too well, as he managed the midfielder at Ajax before the Manchester United move.

The pair worked together to lead Ajax to the Champions League semi final in 2019 where they were knocked out by Tottenham in dramatic fashion.

Despite his loan move, Van de Beek has also struggled at Everton, and his spell has been marred by injuries.

His main hope will be that Ten Hag reintegrates him into the Manchester United squad from next season.

Ten Hag at Ajax

As it stands, Ten Hag is set to finish the season at Ajax on a high, as the club is currently top of the league, four points ahead of closest rivals PSV Eindhoven.

The league is coming to a close, with five games remaining and it is highly unlikely Ajax will drop too many points.

PSV can however take comfort in the fact that they beat their arch rivals in the Dutch Cup recently.

Conte fires warning to Ten Hag

Meanwhile, Ten Hag’s appointment already has some managers talking, and Antonio Conte was the first to comment on the move.

The Italian warned Ten Hag that English football was extremely demanding, and one cannot afford to ‘sleep’ on the job.

He gave the classic example of all the signings Manchester United made in the summer including Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho, yet the club still struggled to compete with the big guns.

Ten Hag’s promise

Despite the pressure that comes with the Manchester United job, Ten Hag remains confident of the task ahead of him.

In fact, the Dutchman, 52, has promised to deliver United back to the club’s glory days by being competitive in the fight for the Premier League title.
