English Premier League giants Manchester United has appointed Erik Ten Haag as the club's new manager on a three-year deal with an option to extend for one year.

"Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Erik ten Hag as Men’s First Team Manager, subject to work visa requirements, from the end of this season until June 2025, with the option to extend for a further year," a statement on the club's website read.

Ten Hag, currently on the books of defending Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam, will join the Red Devils at the end of the season with his contract running till 2025.

He will be United's fifth permanent head coach since Sir Alex Ferguson left his position as manager in 2013, taking over from Ralf Ragnick who will take a consultancy role after the conclusion of the season.

The 52-year-old tactician impressed his future employers in an interview held in March with the club's football director, John Murtough rehashing the decision to appoint Ten Hag.

“In our conversations with Erik leading up to this appointment, we were deeply impressed with his long-term vision for returning Manchester United to the level we want to be competing at, and his drive and determination to achieve that," Murtough told the club's website.
“We wish Erik the best of luck as he focuses on achieving a successful end to the season at Ajax and look forward to welcoming him to Manchester United this summer.”

Erik Ten Hag verbally agrees to be next Man United boss

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Erik Ten Hag has verbally agreed to become the next Manchester United manager, according to stunning latest reports.

Ten Hag, who is expected to leave Ajax at the end of the season, is expected to join the Red Devils on a four-year deal.

According to The Athletic, Ten Hag will take charge of the Old Trafford club immediately after interim boss Ralf Rangnick steps aside.
