  • Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba had to leave the field early with an injury in the match against Liverpool at Anfield
  • This was after he had already been jeered by a section of Old Trafford following a match against Norwich City last Saturday
  • The Frenchman's contract with the Red Devils is coming to an end in June, and he is expected to move as far away from Manchester as is possible to his next club

Paul Pogba's divisive second stint at Manchester United is coming to an ignominious and embarrassing end.

The Frenchman hobbled off the Anfield pitch very early in the headline clash with what appeared to be a calf injury. This was following Pogba being jeered off by a section of Old Trafford last Saturday after the Norwich City match.

What was telling about this moment was how indifferent the United supporters in the away end were to his misfortune, amplified by derisive Liverpool fans who were unmissably gleeful about the farcical situation.

Jesse Lingard was subbed on for his good friend. This completed a set of disastrous matches against Liverpool for Pogba, having been sent off in the 0-5 drubbing last October.

Pogba's contract with United is coming to an end in June, and he is expected to move away from England altogether. There is no telling how long he will be out for, but this appeared something of a long and unhappy goodbye either way.

Anfield rises in sympathy towards Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez after the passing of their son

The whole of Anfield stood and gave a round of applause for one minute in sympathy to Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez after the passing of their newborn son.

As reported on Sports Brief, the moving moment happened in the seventh minute of the match between Liverpool and Manchester United in recognition of Ronaldo's famous number seven jersey, an iconic one in the club's history.

The Liverpool fans then burst out in another loud rendition of 'You Will Never Walk Alone'.
