And during an interview with former Manchester United defender Gary Neville on his Overlap YouTube Channel, the former England midfielder picked Messi over Ronaldo, claiming the PSG man is more of a better team player.

"I think they're both operating on a different planet to every footballer that's ever lived, probably besides your Peles and your Maradonas. But Messi, for me, is more of a team player. If he's in on goal, he'll look for a pass as well as obviously posting really, really good numbers individually as well," he said.

The age-long debate between Messi and Ronaldo has left the footballing world divided, as the duo try to wrap up their careers on a high as they enter their late 30's.

Ronaldo, 37, joined Manchester United in the summer transfer window while Lionel Messi left Barcelona for French giants Paris Saint Germain.
