Cristiano Ronaldo has accused Wayne Rooney of being jealous of him after he called on Manchester United to get rid of the Portuguese captain.

Rooney made an appearance on Sky Sports on Monday as a pundit and suggested that the Red Devils should consider parting ways with Ronaldo.

The Derby County manager claimed that axing the former Real Madrid talisman and Paul Pogba from the team would allow United to progress.

But as Rooney posted a photo of him alongside Jamie Carragher and Monday Night Football presenter David Jones on Instagram, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner left a comment which consisted of just two words: '"Two jealous".

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Wayne Rooney has shared his view on who should manage Manchester United next season.

The former England forward picked Pochettino ahead of Ten Hag, with the Red Devils' legend declaring the Argentine as an ideal candidate for the role.

Rooney cited Pochettino's experience in the Premier League as one of the key factors that give him an edge over Ten Hag.
