Paul Pogba’S brother has taken an interesting dig at Manchester United over alleged false promises as he disclosed his role in the Frenchman quitting the club for Juventus a decade ago.
Pogba came up through the ranks at Manchester United after joining the Old Trafford club at the under 16 level from Le Havre.
But he eventually made a move to Italy, joining Juventus in 2012 after making a mere seven appearances for Manchester United the previous season.
According to Pogba’s brother Mathias, a lot of credit needs to go to him for Pogba’s Juventus move.
"[Paul was] not just a little pushed, it was thanks to me that he signed there,” the former Wrexham and Partick Thistle striker told So Foot:
"I convinced him, 100 per cent.
"And look at the player he has become.
"In Manchester, he was given false promises."
Mathias went on to proudly declare that he plays the role of a “big brother’ when it comes to his brother Paul.
"No more, no less. I will advise him until my death."
Pogba’s success at Juventus
In Turin, Pogba went on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in world football, winning four Serie A titles with The Old Lady before eventually making a stunning return back to Manchester United in 2016 for £89million.
At Manchester United, his only success in terms of silverware has been the league cup and Europa League, both of which were won while playing under Jose Mourinho.
Pogba on depression
Recently, Sports Brief reported of how Pogba admitted to battling bouts of depression while playing under Mourinho.
The Frenchman’s turbulent relationship with Mourinho made headlines in 2018, after he was stripped off vice-captaincy by the gaffer, twice.
Pogba’s relationship with Mourinho started to deteriorate in 2018, with the Portuguese telling him that he would never captain Manchester United again during his tenure as manager.
