Spain national team coach Luis Enrique has broken his silence amid reports he is among a shortlist of candidates for the Man United managerial role.

United chiefs are understood to be weighing up their options as they shop for the club's next permanent boss.

The Mirror reports the Old Trafford club have already drafted up their list of potential managers who will take charge once Ra;f Rangnick steps down at the end of the season.

Luis Enrique included in Man United's shortlist

According to reports, Enrique is the latest name to be included on United's shortlist of candidates for the job.

The 51-year-old is believed to have plenty of supporters in the United board, placing him in a pole position to land the lucrative role.

The experienced Spanish tactician has now responded to the links, revealing his only focus is on the Spain job ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

However, the former Barcelona boss left the door open for a possible switch.

"I will be in Qatar with Spain because I have given my word and there is nothing that makes me more excited than representing my country in the World Cup; later, we'll see," Enrique said as Spain prepared to take on Iceland in an international friendly.

Who else is on Man United's shortlist?

Meanwhile, the Red Devils still have a number of options should they miss out on Enrique who has been touted as "a real contender."

Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino and his Ajax counterpart Erik ten Hag have continually been linked with the United job.

Ten Hag is said to have already been interviewed for the job and is considered to be the frontrunner.
