David de Gea who plays as a goalkeeper for Manchester United has admitted that his teammates did not play well against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night, 15 March.

Manchester United have been sent packing out of Europe's prestigious competition after losing 1-0 at Old Trafford in the second leg of the round of 16 fixture.

Ralf Rangnick and his wards got a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Spain against Atletico Madrid with the hope that they would get good result in the return fixture, but they were defeated in front of their fans.

Before the encounter, Cristiano Ronaldo even made a statement that his teammates should let them get perfect result, but they were unable to soar at Old Trafford.

According to the report on 90min and Mirror UK, David de Gea explained that the players are really disappointed with the result gotten against Atletico Madrid.

''It's not good enough. It's hard for the club, for us, for the fans - it's really hard. This is where we are at the moment, it's a difficult situation, but we need to keep fighting and trying our best.
"To be honest, it's tough moment again. I feel sad for the fans and for everyone, but we were not good enough."

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Juan Mata who is a Spanish professional footballer has been having discussions with Manchester United chiefs over his future as the club's eggheads want him to stay.

His current contract with Manchester United will expire in June and the former Chelsea star has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Barcelona have been impressive since Xavi took over coaching jobs at the Camp Nou, and he is said to bee looking out at some players to bolster his squad for next season.

Manchester United chiefs are aware that Juan Mata is wanted elsewhere, but they are ready to convince him to sign new contract.
