  • Arsenal have been backed to beat rivals Man United to a top-four finish in the Premier League at the end of the season
  • The Gunners are yet to play in the Champions League in four seasons and are desperate to make an appearance in the competition next season
  • Man City, meanwhile, look set to retain the Premier League crown ahead of their closest challengers, Liverpool

A supercomputer has predicted what the final Premier League table would look like at the end of the 2021/22 season.

There are more than 10 games to be played after the second half of the campaign kicked off in earnest, with other teams having as many as 18 matches to play.

Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea already look set to seal the top three slots on the standings, leaving as many as five teams scrambling for the final Champions League spot.

Man United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Wolves, and West Ham all stand a position of finishing in the top four, with just seven points separating the Red Devils in fourth and Spurs who sit eighth.

Supercomputer's prediction

Despite United currently occupying the fourth spot, The Sun, citing a supercomputer has predicted Arsenal will leapfrog them to a top-four finish at the end of the season.

The Gunners currently have three games in hand on the Red Devils which the supercomputer has backed the north Londoners to win to overtake Ralf Rangnick's men on the table.

United have been predicted to finish fifth on the log in what would be a frustrating campaign for them as they are hoping to attract a big-name manager and players to Old Trafford this summer.

Meanwhile, their fellow Champions League hopefuls Spurs and West Ham are expected to finish in sixth and seventh place respectively.

So who would win the league?

While Liverpool have a chance to close the gap on Man City in the title race, the supercomputer has tipped Pep Guardiola's charges to get the job done and retain the domestic crown.

City, who are currently topping the standings with 63 points have a six-point advantage over Liverpool who have a match in hand.

The Reds are, however, expected to finish second on the log ahead of Chelsea who are predicted to seal a third-place finish.

Meanwhile, in the relegation zone, the supercomputer's predictions paint a grim picture for Burnley, Watford, and Norwich.

The three sides are currently occupying the three relegation spots and are primed to fail in their bid to beat the drop.
