The Red Devils are understood to be in the market for a substantive replacement who will take charge permanently?

While Hasenhuttl has not been linked with the Old Trafford job, Scholes has touted him as a "good fit."

The likes of Mauricio Pochetino and Ajax's Erik ten Hag are more likely candidates, but Scholes can see the appeal of the Southampton boss.

What Scholes thinks about Hasenhuttl

Scholes has not hidden his love for Hassenhuttl, with the former midfielder contending the Austrian is up to the task.

The former England international has been impressed with the style of play Hasenhuttl has brought at St. Mary's and feels he could translate that to a higher level at the Theatre of Dreams.

"I’ve always liked him, I’ve always thought the football he plays at Southampton, with not the best squad, but the type of football he’s played has worked for them. His teams have been good to watch, he comes across really well," Metro UK quoted Scholes saying.
"We are a long way behind Liverpool and Man City especially, it might be a good chance to try and build and put his stamp on things. I think he’d be a good fit with a fresh, young, new squad," he added.

De Gea slams Man United teammates

Earlier, Sports Brief reported David de Gea has sent his Man United teammates a rallying call following their 1-1 draw with Southampton at Old Trafford.

United surrendered a 1-0 advantage to settle for a point, with Che Adams scoring the equaliser in the 48th minute.

In a post made on social media, De Gea noted that "the situation needs to improve"
