The Man United playmaker has been linked with a sensational switch to Barcelona, with the Catalan giants desperate to rebuild under Xavi.

However, the Portuguese has clarified he has no intention of dumping United, comparing the transfer gossip to an April Fool's Day joke.

Bruno slammed the rumour by commenting on an Instagram post by Portuguese media outlet, SPORT TV, that suggested he could be on his way to join the struggling La Liga giants this month.

"And I thought the new year only started a few days ago, yet we’re already on April 1! Or is this once again just bad journalism?" Fernandes mocked in response to a post linking him with the Catalan giants.

Incidentally, The Sun reports SPORT TV are not the only media outlet that has suggested Fernandes could move to Barca.

El Nacional recently claimed the Spanish side are primed to make a move for the Portugal international should they fail in their attempt to sign Erling Haaland from Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Fernandes will be hoping to form part of United's squad for their FA Cup third-round tie against Aston Villa on Monday, January 10.

Arsenal eliminated from FA Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Premier League giants, Arsenal, have suffered an early exit from the FA Cup following their 1-0 disappointing loss against Nottingham Forest.

Lewis Grabban was Nottingham's match hero as his solitary goal in the second half of the match fired the Championship side to the next round of the competition.

The Sunday, January 9, third-round tie staged at City Ground saw Mikel Arteta heavily rotate his squad, with Charlie Patino, Eddie Nketiah, and Sambi Lokonga all starting.
