  • Manchester United delivered a woeful effort as they lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League
  • It was Wolves' first win at Old Trafford in over 40 years, taking them to within three points of the seventh-placed Red Devils
  • Supporters and rival fans fanned the flames of the ignominious defeat with one claiming they'd never support the club again

Social media was a disaster area as football fans in Mzansi responded to Manchester United's abject 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

An 82nd minute strike from Wolves' Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho separated the sides in the fixture at Old Trafford. United remained stuck in seventh place on 31 points while Wolves crept into their shadow at 8th, three points behind them on 28.

It was Wolves' first win in Manchester against United since 1980, as EWN reported, and was also caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick's first defeat since taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month. The defeat set the Red Devils further adrift from fourth place, which would guarantee them a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.

The lacklustre nature of the loss set fire to Mzansi social media, where fuel was poured upon it from all corners of the web.

"Ralf Rangnick is a fraud! No way this guy can take Manchester United forward! Ronaldo is slowing down the progress of Mason Greenwood."

"I don't know why but I'm happy when Man United lose. I keep telling Manchester United fans to come to The Arsenal-the future. They are stuck in the Paul Scholes and Eric Cantona era."

Philly's Games make local history by using video assistant referee

The widely popular Philly's Games continues to wow soccer lovers around Mzansi and the township tournament is now a part of history.

As reported in Sports Brief, the Phillys Games were started in Tembisa in 1992 as a way to end the fighting between two political factions in the community.

The introduction of VAR at the latest edition of the Philly's Games has gotten social media buzzing as many fans have found it humorous that the Tembisa-based tournament beat the PSL.
