The hosts found the back of the net three times in the first half, putting themselves in a commanding position to claim all three points.

Kevin de Bruyne grabbed a brace in the encounter which could have had more goals as several chances were fluffed by The Citizens.

But Phil Foden’s strike in that encounter was a landmark goal for Manchester City who reach 500 goals in 207 games to beat a previous record held by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who reached the milestone in 234 matches.

Mirror are reporting that ex-Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson who won the Premier League 13 times, took 265 games to reach such feat.

Sergio Aguero is the top-scoring player under Guardiola, netting 82 in the league before his departure at the end of the last season.

The second top scorer under Guardiola is Raheem Sterling who has scored 76 to extend his personal milestone and Guardiola was full of praise via Euro Sport:

"Raheem has always been an important player but sometimes there are highs and lows for the career. What we want is the best from them.
"I am unfair sometimes because players are performing well and don't play and I don't have an excuse.”

Guardiola reacts to controversial Champions League draw

Manager of Premier League club Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, has said that errors sometimes happen and that there are no suspicions about the Champions League redraw.

The Citizens were earlier pitched against Villarreal, but a redraw will now see them take on Sporting Lisbon in the round of 16 of the competition.

Despite the change of opponents, Guardiola seems unmoved as he said his side will be coming all out against their Portuguese opponents.
