A dominant display from the Citizens saw them see off Claudio Ranieri’s side to go top of the Premier League for the first time this season.

Bernardo Silva, who has been Guardiola’s go-to man for goals this season, netted a brace while Raheem Sterling got the other goal to ensure maximum points for the Citizens.

Watford never stood a chance in their own turf as they were constantly ripped apart by City’s devastating attacks on several occasions.

Goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann deserves credit for making some outstanding saves throughout the game to ensure the scoreline remained respectful.

For City’s first goal, Sterling headed home a brilliant Phil Foden’s cross after some decent build up play which proved too tough for Watford to keep up with.

City then got a deserved second after Bachmann denied Ilkay Gundogan, only for the rebound to fall kindly for Bernardo Silva.

Silva then got his second in the 63rd minute, cutting in from the right side before eventually curling in another classy goal.

Watford’s consolation goal came from Cucho Hernandez, who converted a rebound from his own strike which initially hit the foot of the post.

What Guardiola said

The win took City to 35 points after 15 games, and Guardiola had nothing but good things to say about his side.

"We're an incredibly consistent team," said Guardiola.
"We played a really good performance and missed a lot of chances.”

Chelsea slip up as Liverpool score dramatic late winner

It was an interesting matchday on Saturday that saw three teams touch the top of the table.

Chelsea started the day on top but succumbed to a shock 3-2 defeat to West Ham thanks to a fortuitous winner from Arthur Masuaku.

For Liverpool, their win against Wolves was also rather lucky as it came at the very death thanks to their king of late goals Divock Origi.
