  • Pep Guardiola once threatened to leave Manchester City if he was hoodwinked about their financial breaches
  • Manchester City are believed to be one step away from either being suspended or banned if found guilty
  • For someone with Guardiola's CV, he would surely attract a lot of top-level jobs should he leave

Manchester City are currently embroiled in a financial storm that could see the club suffer damaging consequences in the near future.

The club's fate lies with a commission that has been appointed to determine the severity of the mistakes they are accused of by the Premier League.

The allegations are financial breaches which occurred between 2009 t0 2018. Last year, Pep Guardiola threatened to walk away from the club if they ever lied to him about any financial wrongdoings.

With the club now at risk of being suspended among other possible repercussions, we take a look at the clubs the Spanish Head Coach could join if he decides to make good his threat and leave.

1. Chelsea

The Blues will always be a favourite for a new top manager looking for work given their history of sacking and hiring managers.

The current owners dismissed Thomas Tuchel after the first sign of a poor run of form and replaced him with a novice in Graham Potter.

Potter has struggled to adapt to the reality of managing a top-six club but there is some sense of understanding that he would be given time to work on and implement his ideas.

However, if he fails to produce desired results with his billion-dollar squad, a free-roaming Guardiola could be considered.

2. AC Milan

Stefano Pioli has failed to follow up last season's dominance with the Rossoneri struggling to keep up with the pace this year. A defeat in the Derby della Madonnina saw them drop to sixth place.

The Italians are not known to be extravagant spenders but perhaps landing a coach of Guardiola's calibre could motivate them to dig deep into their pockets. Guardiola has never managed in Italy before.

3. Paris Saint-Germain

Like Manchester City, PSG have spent copious amounts of money in recent times in an attempt to win the Champions League.

Guardiola has failed to take them over the line in the competition. His only Champions League title remains the one he won with Barcelona - a team that had Lionel Messi. Guess which club Messi plays for currently?

Christophe Gatlier has remained near-perfect so far despite concerns about his defence. His main test will come later this month when he faces Bayern Munich in the knockout stages with an injury-ravaged squad.

4. Brazil

Or perhaps, Guardiola could go the international way. Brazil are yet to land Tite's successor after a disastrous Qatar World Cup campaign. There have been talks of Jose Mourinho or Carlo Ancelotti but none has materialised so far.

The South American giants are heavily talented and Guardiola could relish the opportunity of trying his hands at a different type of trade

5. Spain

The 52-year-old recently admitted that if Barcelona were to call him, he would dump everything and head back.

But given how well his old club is performing under one of his former stars Xavi Hernandez, it's hard to see that happening.

The other top job in Spain is the Real Madrid(Ancelotti's side have been below-par after the World Cup break) job but given his Blaugrana ties, that will be impossible. Which leaves the national team job on the cards.

La Roja have failed to replicate the astronomical heights they hit with Vicente Del Bosque between 2008 and 2012. With a new generation of talents coming through the ranks, Guardiola could be excited at the opportunity of coaching his country of birth to a major tournament.

Five punishments Manchester City could face

Sports Brief has also reported that Manchester City are in danger of getting severe punishment should they be found guilty of financial breaches.

City are alleged to have breached Premier League financial guidelines between 2009 and 2018 following a four-year probe.

The Premier League accused the Citizens of violating rules instructing them to provide ‘accurate financial information' that gives a true and fair view of their financial position.
