It has become a norm for football players to give away their jerseys to fans after a game. The fans have actually made it a common appearance by holding out placards during games begging their favourite players to hand out their shirts after the game.

One Manchester City fan got more than he bargained for after Julian Alvarez agreed to give him his shorts.

The Manchester City striker had just played a crucial role in helping his side record an epic comeback against Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs saw their 2-0 goal lead at halftime wiped out by an incisive performance from the defending champions in the second part of the game.

Alvarez sparked off the comeback with a close-range finish with further goals from Erling Haaland and a brace from Riyad Mahrez helping the side to three points.

A fan, who is said to have followed Alvarez's career since his days at River Plate raised a placard asking for the striker's shorts. Yes, you read that right. Shorts, not shirt. And the World Cup winner obliged creating a rare scene in the football world.

Alvarez starred for Argentina last month as they won the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Head Coach Lionel Scaloni used him as his main striker for the larger part of the tournament.

Mateo Kovacic leaves pitch in underwear

This Alvarez incident brings back memories of Mateo Kovacic. Sports Brief has previously reported that the Chelsea midfielder briefly stole the show during the match between Manchester United and Chelsea on Saturday, October 22, leaving the pitch in nothing but his underwear.

The former Real Madrid man came on for Chelsea, replacing Marc Cucurella in the 36th minute in contentious circumstances.

Fans were quick to point out the Croatian’s impact in the game, but the conversation quickly shifted at full time to his brief antics as he left the pitch. Videos captured by cameras and shared by Football Daily on Twitter showed Kovacic jogging towards the tunnel in nothing but his underwear.
