  • Jack Grealish has apologised to Miguel Almiron for trolling the Newcastle star in the summer
  • The England forward courted controversy in May during Manchester City’s title celebrations
  • At the time, a clearly tipsy Grealish took a controversial jibe at his teammate Riyad Mahrez

England and Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has issued an apology to Miguel Almiron, months after making a degrading remark about the Newcastle superstar.

Back in May, Grealish risked the wrath of the football world after speaking out regarding the Newcastle United star during Man City’s title celebrations.

Almiron has since turned the corner and has been superb in the Premier League prior to the World Cup break.

"There were two secrets… one, Riyad [Mahrez], take him off the pitch, as soon as possible. He played like [Miguel] Almiron. Number two, [pointing at Silva] he’s been so good this season, get him off the pitch."

Months after the incident, Grealish admitted he might have gotten carried away by 'a few drinks'.

In an interview with The Guardian, the Manchester City star revealed on his sentiments after being asked directly about the incident for the first time.

"It was the day after the season finished and obviously I’d had a few drinks and stuff. Straight after that… because I didn’t realise, we were out celebrating and I wasn’t on my phone on social media. And then I remember I was in Ibiza and it had obviously come out."

Grealish described the incident as his one regret.

“When I said earlier that sometimes I do stupid stuff, that was one. I regret that. I swear, I’m actually buzzing the way he’s reacted.”

Almiron, a Paraguayan footballer, has since used Grealish’s jibe in May to fuel his ambitions in the Premier League.

He already has eight goals and one assist in the Premier League prior to the World Cup break.

Meanwhile, Grealish is currently at the World Cup with England, who are in the last 16 after topping Group B.

The Three Lions will now come up against African giants Senegal in what promises to be an interesting encounter on Sunday, December 4, at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Elsewhere, SportsBrief reported on Grealish celebrating a goal unusually, during England's 6-2 washing of Iran.

It has since been revealed that the Man City star promised 11-year-old fan Finlay he would celebrate in a certain way, if he was to score at the World Cup.

Grealish went on to score his second international goal for the Three Lions in their opening group stage game and indeed did the peculiar 'worm dance'.
