Man City continue their winning run in the Premier League as they recorded a narrow 1-0 win against Southampton.

Raheem Sterling's strike made the difference between both sides as the former defending champions remain ninth on the table.

City were without their natural strikers including Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the starting XI.

But it took the Citizens 16 minutes to find the back of the net as Kevin de Bruyne's cut-back found Sterling who hit a first-time shot to make it 1-0.

The Saints also threatened City's goal but could not find the back of the net. Jannik Vestergaard's header was saved by Edison and Che Adams also could not connect from a Theo Walcott's cross.

Guardiola's men began the second period stronger as Bernardo Silva nearly doubled the lead but after trying to displace the goalkeeper, the Portuguese see could not get the vital touch.

De Bruyne missed a wonderful opportunity in the 70th minute after he was nicely set up by Silva but his side-footed shot was an easy catch for Southampton's keeper Alex McCarthy.

After the other end, Adams tried to direct his header goalwards after Kyle Walker-Peters' deflected cross nearly gifted his teammate the opportunity to score into an empty net.

Ilkay Gundogan also forced a fine save from McCarthy but there were no further goals in the match as City came out 1-0 winners.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Liverpool continued their impressive form in the Premier League as they comfortably defeated Crystal Palace by 7-0 away at Selhurst Park.

Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah scored a brace each as Takumi Minamino, Sadio Mane, and Jordan Henderson were also on the scoresheet.

The Reds started the game brightly and as early as the third minute they went ahead through Minamino who applied an instinctive finish from a Mane's assist.
