  • West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Bruce is under pressure as his side languish in 21st place in the EFL Championship
  • The former Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday boss says it is difficult for any manager who is not as gifted as Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola
  • Klopp and Guardiola have enjoyed an iconic rivalry in recent seasons, trading places in the Premier League table since 2019
  • Bruce took over at West Brom in February but has seen his side experience a spectacular dip in form of late

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Bruce inadvertently handed Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp the ultimate compliment as he spoke on his future, amid pressure from the West Midlands club.

The Baggies are struggling in the English second tier as they currently lie 21st on the championship table.

Their latest 3-2 defeat at the hands of Swansea now means West Brom have not won their past six league games, further piling more pressure on 61-year-old Bruce.

Inevitably, the question of Bruce facing the sack came into play after defeat to Swansea, but the manager maintained the decision was out of his hands. However, he would try get the team out of the rut.

"Change is for other people to decide. All I can do is try and draw on my experience. I've had tough times before," he told BBC WM Sport.
"I've been here many times. You have to draw on a bit of experience and a bit of resilience and if you're going to do the job, you have to have a bit of that. Unless you are gifted like Pep (Guardiola) or Jurgen (Klopp), it's never easy for anybody."

Since taking charge of the club in February, Bruce has only won eight out of the 30 games he has been overseeing with the team.

West Brom always go into a championship season as promotion favorites, but after a 10th place finish last campaign, it looks like this season will be tougher and will possibly be about fighting relegation.

They currently only have one victory from 11 championship games in this campaign so far.

Klopp’s message to his Liverpool defence

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported of how Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes his team needs to go back to the basics of defending.

The Merseyside club is in unfamiliar territory in the 2022/23 season, as they have already let in 14 goals in nine matches.

This has led them to languish in ninth place on the log with 10 points, while in the Champions League, nothing is guaranteed either.
