Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is currently unstoppable and during the Manchester derby, his hat-trick became his third in the league in just eight matches.

With his ruthless display against City's arch-rivals, Manchester United, the Norwegian now towers above some of the league's legendary strikers.

The 22-year-old was in top form as City ran riot against United at the Etihad Stadium, and went into the game with 11 league goals and two successive home hat-tricks.

Haaland's telepathic on-pitch relationship with Kevin De Bruyne was evident as the Belgian created two of his goals. The hat-trick saw him reach an important milestone in fewer games than legendary Premier League strikers.

Haaland surpasses Premier League greats

A ridiculous stat from one of the league's broadcasters showed Haaland as the fastest player in league history to score three hat-tricks, which he did in just eight matches.

He towers above the likes of Michael Owen, Andrew Cole, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres, according to Twitter.

To put it in context, it took Luis Suarez, one of the game's greatest strikers, 71 games to score three hat-tricks. Michael Owen took 48 matches, Ruud Van Nistelrooy 59, Fernando Torres 64 and Andrew Cole 65, according to Give Me Sport.

The youngster has also scored as many Premier League hat-tricks as Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku.

Aguero's message to Haaland
