Erling Haaland scores brace as Man City sink Sevilla

City, who faltered in their last outing in the Premier League were in the best form of their lives when they travelled to Sevilla on Tuesday night, September 6, for their first Champions League clash of the season.

The Pep Guardiola-tutored side put four past the La Liga giants to secure their first points of the group stages.

The match saw in-form striker Erling Haaland open his Champions League goal account for Man City as he bagged a brace.

Haaland scored on either half of the match, with Phil Foden also getting his name on the scoresheet.

The Norwegian broke the deadlock in the 20th minute, volleying home a Kevin De Bruyne cross at the far post to make it 1-0.

Foden doubled the advantage shortly after the break, before Haaland completed his brace of the night in the 67th minute.

Ruben Dias went on to put the game beyond the hosts at stoppage time, bundling home from close range to complete the rout for City.

City will now shift their focus to their upcoming Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur set for Saturday, September 10, at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep hopeful Haaland will help Man City win UCL

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Pep Guardiola has suggested that Erling Haaland could be the final piece in the puzzle in Man City's quest to win the Champions League.

City have twice come short of carting home the trophy, including in 2021 when they lost in the final against Chelsea.

However, Guardiola is hopeful that the arrival of Haaland can finally help the club with the European competition for the first time in their history.
