  • Barely seven months since his contract was terminated by Arsenal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be on the move again
  • The Gabon international has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and talks between the two clubs are advancing
  • Aubameyang was on the scoresheet as Barcelona played out a six-goal thriller against Manchester City in a friendly

Chelsea fans have already started raving about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Gabon international’s performance against Manchester City on Wednesday, August 24.

Aubameyang could soon be back in English’s top-tier football, with Chelsea highly interested in his services.

As per The Mirror, Barcelona has little choice in terms of keeping the striker, as they need to free up funds to be able to register defender Jules Kounde.

Despite links away from the Nou Camp, Aubameyang was still selected to feature in the friendly clash involving Barcelona and Manchester City.

A free kick was headed towards the back post and Aubameyang struck a beauty from an acute angle to beat Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

While the goal was class, it was Aubemayeng’s demeanour after scoring that caught the eye of fans.

Many of them noticed the striker immediately went to embrace his teammates instead of typically running in excitement after scoring.

For many, particularly Chelsea fans online, it was a subtle goodbye from Aubameyang to Barcelona.

"He doesn’t really celebrate. Quite telling," one Chelsea fan said.
"He has scored more goals against English teams this season than all of our attack put together," a second amusingly added, with only midfielders and defenders scoring for the Blues so far this season.
"£25 million doesn’t seem too much anymore," another fan said, clearly persuaded of the transfer after the latest strike.

The 33-year-old’s goal on Wednesday was the equaliser for his side, who had gone behind through a Julian Alvarez strike.

Manchester United targets Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay also scored and it looked like their goals had placed Barcelona on a victory course, but Riyad Mahrez found the net on the penalty spot in the 99th minute to draw the game level.

Depay bound for Barcelona exit

Elsewhere, Dutch striker Memphis Depay has reportedly agreed to terminate his contract with Spanish giants Barcelona, making him a free agent.

The former Manchester United winger has a contract at Camp Nou lasting until 2023 but could be allowed to leave for free.

The Catalan giants are eager to get Depay off their books this summer after just one season in Spain due to the club’s financial struggles.
