  • Erling Haaland had an interview to forget when he mistakenly swore during his post-match interview after helping the defending Premier League champions to an opening-day win
  • The 22-year-old striker scored on each side of halftime to guide Manchester City to a 2-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, August 7
  • He becomes the second Man City striker to score twice on his Premier League debut after club legend Sergio Aguero

Manchester City marksman Erling Haaland accidentally used expletives during his post-match interview after netting twice on his Premier League debut.

Haaland scored on either side of halftime to open his goal-scoring account for Man City in a competitive match as the defending Premier League champions began their title defence on a winning note.

The 22-year-old Norwegian international came under intense scrutiny for his underwhelming display in the Community Shield but notched a brace to shush his critics on his maiden Premier League outing against West Ham United.

He could have had a hat-trick to surpass Sergio Aguero's debut feat for the Cityzens. Disappointed he could not find the back of the net on three occasions, Haaland said via talksport: “Yeah I could’ve. If you saw, I could’ve right before I went off, I should’ve been there, so.

“Bit s***, but that’s how it is.”

After a few seconds of silence, Haaland was clearly unaware he had just sworn. And he was apologetic when interviewer Geoff Shreeves politely reminded him not to swear but the precocious forward ended up repeating his earlier error.

“Oh sorry, s***.” he said, before putting his hand to his mouth and apologising again. Oh sorry! Not good language in this country!” he laughed.

Erling Haaland breaks goal-scoring duck for Man City on Premier League debut

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that new Manchester City striker Erling-Braut Haaland is up and running as he broke his goalscoring duck in a competitive game since his arrival this summer.

Exactly eight days after Man City's loss to Liverpool in the traditional Premier League curtain-raiser, Community Shield, Haaland was singled out for criticism after he missed gilt-edge opportunities in the fixture.

The former Dortmund marksman missed a golden opportunity at the death of the game to reduce the deficit for the Cityzens as Liverpool snatched the first silverware of the season.
