  • Manchester City are highly interested in signing Kieran Tierney from Arsenal but such a move is highly unlikely to take place given the Scot's stand
  • Pep Guardiola doesn't have a natural full-back following the suspension of Benjamin Mendy with Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko having to step in
  • Tierney is considered a huge part of Arsenal's plans despite the former Celtic star struggling with injuries during his time in London

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney has assured the club that he intended to stay on despite strong interest from Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola is actively looking to sign a full-back and Tierney's name has emerged as a shock target. City have already enquired about the services of Brighton and Hove Albion's Marc Cucurella.

Tierney recently extended his contract with Arsenal and it was at that time that he pledged his long-term future to Mikel Arteta's side as quoted by Football London.

I think the vision of the club and where it wants to go, the expectations of the club is where I want to be in football, at the top. There's no doubt about it that we're not where we want to be but we're going in the right direction.

Metro UK reports that there is a different dynamic that might be looked at. Whilst Manchester City are interested in Tierney, Arsenal are in the race to sign Gabriel Jesus from the Premier League champions and have also enquired about Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Should push come to shove, the two clubs might resolve to swap deals but it is highly unlikely that Arsenal would let Tierney be a part of any deal. Arteta is desperately looking for a striker after both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette left the club last season.

Kieran Tierney recounts his harrowing knee injury

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Kieran Tierney has explained how his current knee injury affected him. The Arsenal defender suffered an injury that required operation. The operation effectively ended the season for him.

Tierney was a regular member of Mikel Arteta’s side as they matched towards a top-four finish. He was also expected to play a very critical role in Scotland’s ambition to qualify for the World Cup.

Tierney recounts that he was doing his normal gym routine at Arsenal when he heard a click on his left knee.
