  • Kevin De Bruyne is predominantly right-footed, but as witnessed in his explosive performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers, his left foot is equally as good
  • The midfield maestro scored the third-fastest hat trick in Premier League history by using his supposedly inferior foot
  • A Belgian journalist has explained how De Bruyne managed to use both his feet, crediting a punishment he got as a kid

Kevin De Bruyne is a par excellence midfielder. Often regarded as one of the best playmakers of his generation, De Bruyne’s right foot is his preferred foot. It Is the foot that he uses to devastating effects to whip in pinpoint crosses and unleash absolute belters.

But against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Belgian scored a 24-minute hat-trick with his, get this, weaker left foot. De Bruyne was a class beyond the rest as he took Manchester City a step closer to retaining their English Premier League title.

He powered in a low finish past Jose Sa in the Wolves' goal for his first. The ball then fell kindly to him in the penalty area as he got his second to restore City’s lead.

Leander Dendoncker had equalized for Wolves. He claimed his hat trick with a ferocious drive from outside the penalty area that beat Sa to his far post.

He was banned from using his right foot as a child

Apart from the obvious reason that he is a world-class midfielder who can make things tick with either foot, there is another reason. Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur says that, as reported by Sportbible, De Bruyne was banned from using his right foot as a kid.

A young De Bruyne was full of mischief like any other boy his age. A neighbour found him breaking and destroying grass plant pots and flowers in gardens. He resorted to banning De Bruyne from using his natural foot to curb the menace.

Well, that seems to have worked wonders. The 30-year-old is equally adept on both feet. He is still predominantly right-footed but his supposed weaker foot has delivered moments of excellence occasionally.

The former Wolfsburg and Chelsea midfielder is enjoying a glorious individual campaign. His four-goal haul at the Molineux took him to 15 goals in the Premier League. He has also supplied a further seven assists this season.

Pep Guardiola will be banking on his star player in the remaining two games. City can retain their title on Sunday if they beat West Ham. They currently lead Liverpool by three points and have a plus-seven goal difference.

Haaland to become a City player

Earlier, Sports Brief confirmed that Manchester City had agreed on an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for Erling Haaland.

Haaland is expected to become a City player on 1st July, subject to agreeing on personal terms with Manchester City.

The Norwegian striker is expected to add a different but exciting dimension to the already talented Pep Guardiola’s side.
