Police had to be called upon to put an end to the scuffle between Manchester City and Atletico Madrid players as things got heated up after their second-leg Champions League game.

The Citizens had frustrated Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw and earned a semi-final ticket to the UEFA Champions League ahead of the Spanish champions.

According to a report via the Express, Jack Grealish and Stefan Savic had to be separated by Spanish police following a brawl that ensued between both teams after the final whistle of their quarter-final clash.

The brawl commenced when Atletico Madrid defender, Felipe got his marching orders following a harsh tackle on Phil Foden in added time which led to a scuffle between both teams.

Atletico Madrid were clearly the better team on the night and pushed for a goal to tie the game but were unfortunate with many missed chances with City bent on defending.

Guardiola makes history after Manchester City UCL success

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has entered the history books after guiding Manchester City to a consecutive UEFA Champions League semi-final.

According to Africa Top Sports, Pep Guardiola has reached his seventh UEFA Champions League semi-final, more than any other manager in the competition's history.

The Spaniard will be hoping to win his first Champions League trophy with the Citizens after failing in last season’s final when they lost 1-0 to Chelsea.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester City kept their cool at the Wanda Metropolitano to advance to the semi final of the Champions League at the expense of Atletico Madrid.

Leading 1-0 from the first leg, Pep Guardiola’s side produced a disciplined and at times solid performance on Wednesday, April 13 to keep out their opponents on the night.

The game was anything but easy for the Etihad club as they had to endure 90 minutes of intimidation and hostility from the Atletico fans, as well as a physical performance from the home team.
