Bernardo Silva insists Manchester City are still in a better position than Liverpool despite the drab 0-0 stalemate against Crystal Palace on Monday, March 14.

The Citizens struggled to break down an organized Crystal Palace side at Selhurst Park as Guardiola’s men dropped 2 crucial points in the race for the Premier League title.

Having drawn the game, City now have 70 points from 29 matches, and Liverpool could close the gap to a single point if the Reds win their game in hand.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, City midfielder Bernardo Silva was adamant his side should have scored, given the chances they had.

"We couldn't score and we should've scored," Silva told Sky Sports.

"Nine games to go, but it's still better to be in our position than in Liverpool's and they have to play in our stadium so it's going to be exciting."

Silva as particularly guilty of failing to convert a glorious chance late on, as he could only manage to poke Jack Grealish’s pass narrowly wide.

Guardiola’s take

Despite the draw, Guardiola was still full of praise for his team, despite failure to score at Selhurst Park.

"Luck doesn't exist in football. We have to score goals and we didn't do it," the Spaniard told BBC Match of the Day.

"We played to score goals and concede few. We struggled a little bit.

The Citizens will now shift their focus briefly to the FA Cup, as they face Southampton in the quarter-finals on Sunday, March 20.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have a tricky fixture against Arsenal on Wednesday, March 16, with both sides desperately needing three points for different reasons.

Interestingly, there is still the slim chance that Manchester City could face off with Liverpool a staggering four times in April as they are both in the hunt for at least three pieces of silverware between now and the end of the season.

On why his side drew against Palace, Guardiola seemed to suggest that the grass at Selhurst Park played a role in his side’s performance.

"The way we played was amazing in a difficult stadium with the grass not perfect, we were there all the time, we had a good game," he added.

City also hit the woodwork twice during the game, and Crystal Palace boss Patrick Viera was the first to admit that his side were quite lucky not to have fallen behind the entire match.
