Celebration as Manchester City Defender Regains Freedom After Spending Months in Prison

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has regained freedom from a British prison after spending over 4 months in jail.

The 27-year old was granted bail by Judge Patrick Thompson at a private hearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday, January 7.

Mendy had spent his Christmas in prison after he transferred to HMP Manchester, better known as Strangeways from HMP Altcourse, Liverpool due to safety concerns.

The ace was pictured leaving Chester Crown Court in a yellow and green prison jumpsuit on Friday afternoon wearing handcuffs, guards ushered him into a prison van where he was briefly taken back to Strangeways.

He was later seen arriving home in a black Mercedes.

Court Judge Patrick Thompson had imposed some stringent conditions on the Man City defender before granting him bail such as surrendering his passport and making no contact with complainants.

Mendy must also stay at his £4.8million six-bedroom mansion.

The French defender will next appear in Court on January 24 ahead of a provisional trial date on June 27.

The 27-year old has only featured but once for Manchester City this season in the opening weekend of the season and has been suspended by the defending champions.
