Namibia produced a second-half masterclass to beat five-time Africa champions, Cameroon in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Goals from Peter Shalulile and Absalom Nanjana Kamutyasa ensured the host collected all three points to go top of Group C.

Vincent Aboubakar scored late to get a consolation for the Indomitable Lions at the Dobsonville Stadium.

After a barren first half, Namibia took the lead ten minutes after the break through Mamelodi Sundowns forward, Shalulile.

With ten minutes remaining, Kamutyasa doubled the lead following a brilliant play by the host.

Cameroon turned on the heat on Namibia, with Aboubakar coming close. The Besiktas forward then netted late in injury time, but it was not enough as the five-time champions suffered a shocking defeat.

Namibia climbed to top of the group with five points after three games, with Cameroon second on four points.

The Southern African nation have secured qualification due to a better head-to-head advantage. Despite the defeat, Cameroon could still qualify to the tournament in Ivory Coast next year.

Burundi were not involved in action due to the disqualification of Kenya.

AFCONQ: Ghana held by Angola

Sports Brief also reported on Osman Bukari needing only sixty seconds to make an impact following his introduction in the game against Angola.

The Black Stars conceded early in the second half after Reading striker, Lucas Joao scored for the hosts from the penalty spot.

Angola started the game brightly with midfielder, Fredy testing Ghana goalkeeper, Lawrence Ati Zigi from long range after just eight minutes.

Nigeria respond after Guinea-Bissau defeat

The Super Eagles of Nigeria returned to winning ways on March 27, beating Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in the second leg of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The central Africans recorded a surprise victory over the west Africans in Abuja, in a shocking result which put even more pressure on coach, Jose Peseiro.

After the tie, the Super Eagles coach stated his wards would redeem themselves in the return leg, noting the many opportunities missed in the first match.
