Teboho Mokoena has been on the lips of football fans across the continent after scoring an outrageous goal for Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.

The 27-year-old fired from long range to beat Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy as the Brazilians thrashed the Egyptian giants 5-2 at the Loftus Versfeld.

The victory sees the former African champions progress to the last eight of the competition with two games to spare in the group stage.

Mokoena celebrated his goal by performing the Ronaldo 'sleep' celebration.

Sundowns declared their intentions early in the game after Marcelo Allende broke the deadlock.

However, Al Ahly responded eight minutes later through Mohamed Sherif.

Sundowns restored their lead through Themba Zwane in the 24th minute before Mokoena scored what could be the goal of the season contender to extend the league.

Former Sundowns winger Percy Tau gave Al Ahly hope in the second half but Peter Shalulile's double in the final 20 minutes put the game beyond the North Africans.

Ahly legend avoids Mosimane question

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Al Ahly has been struggling since Pitso Mosimane's departure last June.

The latest setback without the South African at the helm is a humiliating 5-2 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday in Tshwane, in a CAF Champions League encounter.

This left the Egyptian superclub all but eliminated from this season's competition.

Mokoena opens up on future

SuperSport United player Teboho Mokoena was a huge target for Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

Mokoena is also a regular feature in Bafana Bafana colours and this has led to him becoming a highly sought-after player in the top-flight. While most players would be delighted with being offered a contract at a big South African club, Mokoena has other intentions for his career.

Speaking about what his next destination will be, Mokeona mentioned something unexpected but also understandable.
