  • Mamelodi Sundowns senior coach Steve Komphela showed that he is a man of other talents
  • Komphela appeared in a video during which he was playing percussion on drums while the team sang after a match
  • There has been talk that he could (or should) be on the way out of the club to seek a new challenge after contributing to its total domination

Perhaps Steve Komphela's next gig, should he leave Mamelodi Sundowns will be in a music band.

The club's "senior coach" was seen in a video playing a drum, with the team singing following what was presumptuously a Sundowns victory.

Before Orlando Pirates appointed Spaniard Jose Riveiro as the team's new coach, rumours emerged that the club was looking to pry Komphela away from the Brazilians, as per Soccer Laduma. However, it is believed that a prohibitively pricey buy-out clause was in place to prevent anyone else from poaching him.

He was announced alongside Rhulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithit as co-coaches in October 2020 after the departure of Pitso Mosimane as head coach. Since then, Sundowns has won two consecutive DStv Premierships as well as an MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup, with the latter two forming part of a Treble last season.

Comedian Skhumba roasts Moroka Swallows, Baba Mthethwa and Steve Komphela and others as a commentator

Comedian Skhumbuzo "Skhumba" Hlophe might be the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons at the moment, but there is no doubt he remains the benchmark on humorous observations of everyday South African life.

As reported by Sports Brief, there were rumours that the end of the line had come for him at Kaya FM with his colleague Thomas Msengana on the radio station's morning breakfast show.

Regardless, his rise in the broadcast world was given a boost with his appearance as a guest commentator during SuperSport's coverage of the 2016 Gauteng Champion of Champions Cup tournament in Daveyton in the east of Gauteng.
