Fans of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are going head-to-head on social media, as supporters debate who has the better player.

The debate started after Thembinkosi Lorch produced a brilliant performance for Orlando Pirates thumped Maritzburg United 4-1, with Lorch scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Peter Shalulile has score 23 goals this season and helped Mamelodi Sundowns to a fifth consecutive league title.

One fan saw it a lot more differently, firing shots at Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile in the process. @NsikayesizweZN posted a video of Lorch in action, stating that Shalulile wasn’t capable of that skill.

The tweet got the desired effect as triggered Sundowns fans responded to the claim. Lorch and Shalulile started to trend on Twitter soon after both sets of fans came out in defence of their players.

Manqoba Mngqithi praises Andile Jali and Peter Shalulile after duo nominated for Premier Soccer League awards

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced their award nominees today and Mamelodi Sundowns dominated the show.

Masandawana duo Andile Jali and Peter Shalulile notched up eight nominations between them. Shalulile has been in tremendous form, scoring 23 goals this season.

Jali received five of those nominations, City Press confirmed.

Mamelodi Sundowns were officially crowned as the 2021/22 DStv Premiership champions today.

Masandawana won the league title in April after a goalless draw with Cape Town City but had to wait till the last league game to get their hands on the trophy.

Sundowns’ last game came against Royal AM today and the Brazilians ended their season in style with a 3-2 win over MaMkhize’s side in a thrilling fixture.
