Mamelodi Sundowns' co-coach, Manqoba Mnqithi, has hit out at Kaizer Chiefs, accusing them of being spiteful.

Mngqithi made the comments after the Brazilians completed the double over Al Ahly, beating them home and away.

As reported by iDiski Times, Mngqithi said that the win was sweeter considering that Kaizer Chiefs helped Al Ahly train for the match. Kaizer Chiefs allowed Pitso Mosimane’s Egyptian side to train at their Naturena facilities for their clash against Sundowns. Mnqgiti was also upset that the Amakhosi allowed Al Ahly to use their change rooms.

“I think what makes it sweeter for me is a collaboration. If you remember during the bubble, at FNB you could not use the change rooms. Our countrymen could not use the change room. But this change room was open for Al Ahly now, against us.” Mnqithi said.

Mnqithi also added that Sundowns refused to allow Wydad AC to use their facilities last year when the team was preparing for a match against Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Champions League, Soccer Laduma reported.

“Wydad wanted to train in our facility when they were coming to play Chiefs last year. But we did not allow it because that would have meant we are forming an alliance with people from outside,” Mngqithi explained.

Mamelodi Sundowns top group A in the CAF Champions League, accumulating 10 points from four games. Al Ahly, Al-Hilal and Al-Merrikh are all tied on four points with two games left to play for each team.

CAF Champions League: Mamelodi Sundowns complete double over African champions Al Ahly

Mamelodi Sundowns made history by becoming the first South African team to complete the double over Al Ahly in African competitions. A Peter Shalulile strike in the 23rd minute ensured that the Brazilians replicated their 1-0 victory over Pitso Mosimane's side two weekends ago at the Cairo International Stadium away.

The loss extended Al Ahly's wait for its first-ever victory over South African opponents on these shores. This is now the 14th attempt since 2001 - when they ironically played Sundowns - that the Red Devils have failed to win on their travels to the southern tip of the continent.

Al Ahly absolutely dominated possession for the entirety of the match, holding the ball 63% of the time in comparison to Sundowns' 37%. However, the tactically adept South Africans made this count for little, outshooting the visitors by 14 shots to seven in a match they could have been won far more comfortably.
