Premier League match-week 18 presented fans with exciting results as the title race shapes up, with Manchester City closing-in on the gap between them and leaders United to just two points.

Despite settling for a goalless draw at Anfield against rivals Liverpool, Manchester United remain top on the standings with 37 points

United went into the Sunday evening, January 17, match keen to post a favourable result to cement their place on the summit.

The Red Devils had two glorious chances to put the game to bed via Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, but both fluffed their opportunities.

The visitors eventually settled for a point as they took their unbeaten streak in away matches to 16.

Man City's 4-0 huge win over Crystal Palace saw them climb up the ladder to second and now sit just two points behind rivals United with a game to play.

A John Stones' brace and a goal each from Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling were enough to earn City a comfortable win as they revived their title hopes.

City's win saw Liverpool drop to fourth, with the reigning champions now a point behind Leicester who are third with 35 points.

Liverpool's draw against United mean they have gone four matches without a win in the league.

Tottenham Hotspur's 3-1 win over relegation-bound Sheffield United has them occupying fifth place with 33 points but face the prospect of dropping to sixth should Everton win their own fixture.

Chelsea's slim 1-0 win over 10-man Fulham was enough to lift them to seventh with 29 points ahead of their meeting with Leicester City on Tuesday, January 19.

Arsenal beat Newcastle United-0 on Monday night, January 18 to move to tenth position on the standings.

Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United are all rocked in the relegation zone, with the latter appearing resigned to dropping to Championship.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester City ran riot against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, January 17, as the Citizens convincingly won the tie 4-0.

However a moment of brilliance occurred during the encounter when Gundogan struck from outside the area to get Pep Guardiola’s side’s second goal of the match.

Brazilian star Fernandinho was seen as he attempted to stop his team-mates from hugging each other, encouraging them to practice social distancing.
