  • Mohamed Salah is two goals away from becoming Liverpool's all-time top scorer in the Premier League
  • The Egyptian relishes how special it would be for him to match and break Robbie Fowler's record
  • He also discussed the importance of team achievements while setting individual records

Mohamed Salah is one goal away from matching Robbie Fowler's record as Liverpool's all-time top scorer in the Premier League. He has scored 127 goals for the Reds, while the legend has scored 128.

Fowler achieved his feat in 366 games, while Salah, a goal behind, has played just 204 league games for the Reds. The Egyptian has won three golden boots with his goals, while the Englishman never won it.

The former Chelsea man looks forward to breaking the records and admits it is something he chased because it is special to him, but he also noted what makes it more special is winning trophies.

Salah appears to dig Kane

Salah, who scored five goals against Manchester United last season, looks forward to the prospect of getting the goals against the Reds' fiercest rivals on Sunday.

“I want to be the top scorer for Liverpool in the Premier League because, for me, it’s going to be special. It is something I really chase,” he told Sky Sports

He, however, would love more to win trophies with the team as it makes the records even more special because it counts for something.

“As long as we achieve something with the team that is the most important thing for me. I’m happy and proud to break records and lift trophies at a team like Liverpool. I don’t wanna be at a smaller team and be the one that breaks records and that’s it,” he added.

The comment appears to be a dig at English striker Harry Kane. As reported by ESPN, Kane became Tottenham’s all-time top scorer last month, surpassing Jimmy Greaves, but is yet to win a silverware in his career.

Klopp admits Salah misses Mane

By the end of the 2022/23 season, only Mohamed Salah would be left of the devastating attacking trio built by Jurgen Klopp after it was confirmed yesterday that Roberto Firmino would leave the club.

As Sports Brief earlier reported, while discussing Salah's struggle, Klopp admitted he misses Sadio Mane, who left the club last season to join German champions Bayern Munich.
