Football fans seem to have changed their tune on Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez after the Uruguay international’s brace against Southampton on Saturday, November 12.

Since signing from Benfica for £64m , Nunez has been in the eye of the storm, with fans and pundits eager to see him live up to his hefty price tag.

Life in the Premier League did not start out as he anticipated as the young striker initially struggle to settle in at Liverpool.

But months down the line and Nunez seems to have finally rediscovered his form and confidence, and is proving to be an instrumental player for Jurgen Klopp amid a difficult season.

On Saturday, with the scores 1-1, Nunez poked past Saints goalkeeper past Gavin Bazunu before getting his third via a tap-in from Andy Robertson’s cross.

As per transfermkt, Nunez, 23, has now notched in nine goals and two assists in 18 games. He has only started nine of these matches.

On social media, fans, who were initially very critical of the Uruguayan, now seem to have changed tune about the striker based on his recent performances.

Fans throw back Iwobi’s shirt

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on an interesting incident during the Bournemouth vs Everton clash involving Alex Iwobi.

Bournemouth scored three goals past a hapless Frank Lampard side to leave them with just one win in eight games.

After the game, the travelling fans let the players know of their frustration after they threw back Alex Iwobi's shirt at him. In a video spotted online by Sports Brief, Iwobi and other Everton players walked over to the fans and the Nigerian gave his shirt to one fan.

However, the fan threw back the shirt at Iwobi in one of the clearest signs of frustration from the fanbase.
