  • The Carabao Cup fourth round draw was confirmed on Thursday, November 10, with Liverpool being handed Manchester City in the last 16
  • Jurgen Klopp’s side are miles behind league leaders Arsenal and practically out of the title race
  • They still have a shot at three pieces of silverware this season; the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League

Liverpool will have to get past their popular foes Manchester City if they are to make it to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The fourth round draw of the competition was confirmed on Thursday, November 11, with Manchester United getting a much easier fixture in the next round where they will face Championship side Burnley.

Newcastle United, who are having one of their best domestic campaigns in recent seasons, will face Bournemouth, while Gillingham will face a trip to Wolves.

Brighton, who knocked off Arsenal in the third round, will travel to London to face Charlton, while there will be an interesting clash between Blackburn and Nottingham Forest, who upset Spurs 2-0 on Wednesday.

Here is the full fourth-round draw as cited on The Sun:

• Wolves vs Gillingham

• Southampton vs Lincoln

• Blackburn vs Nottingham Forest

• Newcastle vs Bournemouth

• Man City vs Liverpool

• Man Utd vs Burnley

• MK Dons vs Leicester

• Charlton vs Brighton

When will the fixtures take place?

The fourth round will take place after the mid-season break and the World Cup is concluded, in the week commencing on December 19.

One of the biggest talking points ahead of the draw was the fact that it was devoid of London teams, after the exits of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea lost 2-0 to Manchester City, while Liverpool, who are the defending champions of the competition, had to progress through a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw with Derby.

Jadon Sancho trolled by Airline

Sports Brief also earlier reported on how RyanAir, an airline based in Dublin and London, appeared to aim a subtle dig at Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho.

Sancho found himself omitted from the final squad alongside the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham.

His career is yet to hit the same heights it hit in Germany. He showed some signs of regaining his form during the first few weeks of the Erik ten Hag tenure.
