A statue of Egyptian football icon Mohamed Salah has been spotted on the streets of Cairo, after an artist built it in honour of the footballer.

The 30-year-old star, who plies his trade for Liverpool in England, is revered by the people of Egypt for his accomplishments in the game.

Unlike Mane's statue, where the resemblance was somewhat difficult to see, Salah's looks shiny and bears more similarities to the player.

Salah has had a purple-patch campaign so far, as he struggles to replicate his blistering form from last season.

Despite the performance of Liverpool, Salah has managed 11 goals in 18 games across all competitions for the Reds.

Mane statue sets internet ablaze

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that a statue of Senegal legend Sadio Mane has drawn massive reactions on social media from fans of the player.

The statue, designed and built by a Senegalese artist, was spotted in the player's hometown of Bambali. While the statue was meant to honour Mane, fans have had mixed reactions.

The sculpture was designed with the player in a Senegalese jersey, reminiscent of one of his celebrations during AFCON 2021.

Mohamed Salah scores quickest hat-trick in UEFA Champions League

Mohamed Salah has inked his name in history books of the Champions League, following his stunning performance against Rangers recently.

The Egyptian forward had a slow start to the new season, scoring just thrice ahead of Liverpool's clash against Rangers.

However, he appeared to have rediscovered his mojo against the Scottish giants, as he came off the bench to net a hat-trick within just six minutes.
