  • Liverpool are reportedly highly interested in Torino defender Perr Schuurs
  • Jurgen Klopp is eyeing defensive reinforcements amid Liverpool’s struggles in the league this season
  • The Dutch centre-back could be pursued by Liverpool as early as January

Liverpool have set their sights on towering Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs as the club looks for defensive reinforcements to salvage their season.

The Reds have been extremely underwhelming this season, particularly in the league, with their latest 2-1 defeat in the Premier League at the hands of Leeds United bringing to light their underlying defensive problems.

Part of the reason Jurgen Klopp’s side has struggled so much this season is because of the congested fixture list, which has led to constant injuries within the team.

Klopp will be well aware of the issues in his backline and according to The Hard Tackle and Tutto Mercato Web, the 2020 Premier League champions are keen on bolstering their defence by adding Schuurs to the mix.

The centre-back was signed by Torino from Ajax last summer and is enjoying a bright start to life in Serie A.

Atletico Madrid are also keeping tabs on the defender, but Liverpool are in a better position to sign the 22-year-old for several reasons including the fact that they are still in the Champions League.

Torino invested £8 million in the defender, but they could be tempted to sell him for a much higher price.

With the World Cup coming before the January transfer window, several players’ profiles are expected to rise as a result of the global tournament.
