Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has warmed the hearts of fans online after he was seen passing his jacket to a young mascot who was feeling cold.

The incident happened before Liverpool's clash against Rangers on October 5 at the Anfield Stadium.

As the players lined up for the UEFA Champions League anthem, Thiago realised that a mascot who was in front of him was seemingly feeling the effects of the cold that was sweeping through Anfield.

The Spanish international then took off his jacket and wrapped it around the mascot. A few fans dropped to social media to recognise the former Bayern Munich midfielder's selflessness.

"Thiago gave Trent water and a hug after leaving the Rangers game. He’s just too kind, man I love him."

@BPhilz_14 tweeted:

"He cares for everyone just like he cares for the ball."

Liverpool went on to beat Rangers 2-0 with goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah. Jurgen Klopp's side are now in second place, three points behind Napoli, who beat Ajax 6-1.

Thiago has often been credited with making the Liverpool side tick. He suffered a hamstring injury during the opening game of the Premier League against Fulham and the Reds struggled to produce consistent results in his absence.

Darwin Nunez seen complaining to Virgil Van Dijk during the clash against Rangers

During the same game, Sports Brief also reported that Darwin Nunez has endured a difficult start to life in the Premier League, despite showing early promising signs.

Signed from Benfica for a reported club record fee, the striker hit the ground running in the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Against Rangers, the 23-year-old had a number of glorious opportunities to score, but his efforts were constantly thwarted by a determined Allan McGregor in the Rangers goal.

After fluffing his lines on one occasion, Nunez is seen turning back to one of Liverpool's captains, Virgil van Dijk and lamenting.
