  • Liverpool got back to winning ways with a comprehensive 2-0 win over Rangers in the Champions League
  • Trent-Alexander Arnold and Mohammed Salah got the goals to boost the Reds chances of proceeding to the last 16
  • Salah scored from the penalty spot and prior to his kick, Jordan Henderson was spotted in sync with the Egyptian’s run-up to the penalty

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was caught in a delightful moment during the Champions League clash against Rangers last night.

Henderson proved to know his teammate Mohammed Salah so well that he literally mimicked the Egyptian’s entire run up as he took a penalty.

The Reds, coming off the back of a 3-3 draw against Brighton, went ahead after seven minutes courtesy of Trent-Alexander Arnold who clipped in a flawless 25-yard free-kick into the top corner.

Early in the second half, Liverpool were handed the chance to extend their lead when Leon King fouled Luis Diaz in the box.

Up stepped Salah, who calmly hit the ball straight down the middle, deceiving the keeper.

Before the spot kick, Henderson was positioned just outside the box in anticipation of a possible rebound.

Clips doing rounds on social media show the Englishman mimicking Salah’s entire penalty routine, and the pair was in sync in their movements up until the Egyptian scored the penalty.

Why did he do it?

While there have been many strange penalty rituals in football in the past, social media users were divided as to why Henderson performed the run-up.

Most people, however, were adamant he kept on putting off Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

However, it is also likely Henderson did it to have an edge over other players in the event the ball was back in play from a save or from hitting the woodwork.

Salah told he bulking has hindered his speed

Earlier, Sports Brief reported of how former Liverpool man Jose Enrique believes Mohammed Salah’s bulking has affected his game.

Compared to his past lofty standards, Salah has made a slow start to the season, notching three goals in nine appearances prior to Tuesday, October 4.

According to the former Reds defender, Salah might have bulked to much since the winter of 2022.

Enrique pointed out that the Egyptian maestro has not been the same since the Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the year, and this was down to gaining a bit too much muscle.
